Rain, rain, go away

I felt like the White Queen today, I had bobby pins threatening to come down all day.  I put my hair back with small pins (regular size, not the gargantuan ones I favor) and I ended up using 15 of them!  I look sort of snarky in the pictures, because we were having issues getting pictures that weren't blurry.

Aren't my little bare feet cute?  You know they are!

Long post today with two outfits (yesterday and today), and a (non-sponsory) plug for a potential new magazine, Basse Mode, that you might have read about on other bloggers' sites. And as per the post title, I'm wearing black tops in all photos.

Here's a quick pic from yesterday of me in my little sleeveless shirt and without my glasses. It has been determined that I am less likely to make ridiculous faces if I am not wearing my glasses. If I am, my eyebrows seem to start acting up like a character in a melodrama (usually the villain).



Amazing! I now have 2 pairs of jeans. Double the amount. My mother brought me home another pair that she thrifted (my mom is where my sister and I learned to thrift). I decided to try working a head scarf today, in a quasi-gypsy sort of way. You know, if there were albino gypsies. This is sort of a dress over jeans look, but the "dress" is very short. My mom thought it was a shirt when I bought it! I would never wear it without leggings or (now) jeans underneath, because I don't feel like flashing my panties at people. But these jeans have a much slimmer fit than my others, so I might start experimenting more with the whole dress over jeans thing.

I need your sweet love to beat love away

I like army green as much as any pacifist (if not more), but not enough to purposefully wear it two days in a row. It just happened that way. Don't judge me! This jacket is large enough to button over my chest, which means that it's fairly loose around my waist. And yes, my arms are teeny tiny short, resulting in looong sleeves, which I actually like. (When all jackets are like this, you either like it, or learn to sew so you can fix them.) The white shirt caused me problems at lunch though, as I accidentally flung soy sauce from my dumplings onto it. But this seems to be a running Saturday problem for me, so you would think I would just wear a brown/black shirt...sigh. Here, we'll sepia-tone the photo and pretend that I wore this a long time ago, before color pictures.



You can't see my Crocs, but I'm wearing them. I have plain black ones, that make my feet happy, so any overly judgemental fashionistas can just choke on them. Plus, I danced a ton last night at a bluegrass music "jamboree" with my sister, niece, and nephew, so my feet needed some comfort.

This is the outfit I mentioned on my twitter as making me feel supercute. I've been looking for a sweater-dress/long tunic ALL FREAKIN' WINTER and I finally found one. Luckily, here in VA it appears that winter is never going to end. Everywhere I looked I found sweater-dresses and tunics galore...but. But, they nipped in at the bottom! A curvy girl like me wants something with a little flare at the bottom, not something to point out my thighs! But wonder of all wonders, I found this on a Wal-mart sale rack. Sadly, black was the only decent color, or I would have a rainbow of these dresses. And this outfit is as comfy as pajamas!

I also change shoes at work. While at work, I usually wear these little slippers that were my shoes for my modern dance shoes back in undergrad back in 2003! You can see the wear, but they've lasted a very long time for little leather split-sole shoes. Particularly since I don't take any care of them.




And these are the shoes that I wear outside of work. Vaguely workman like, but sort of cute.

I love Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, and the group Ludo. They all have crazy weird lyrics that take your mind to really neat, sometimes creepy, all together new places.

I visited my Nana today with my parents. I don't care how cute your grandmother is, mine is cuter and sweeter by far. Before we saw Nana, my parents wanted to get new cell phones. I had less than no interest in waiting around with them, so I went to the stores nearby.


Frustrated by the shoe store's lack of boots to fit my calves (bizarrely muscular), I went to the Dollar Tree. And lo and behold, these two cute purses, each just a buck! They are much smaller than the ones I usually carry, but I can carry them on special-ish occasions.



It's still pretty cold for Virginia, and the snow is piled up in huge drifts around the roads and my house. But my Nana's house is always nice and toasty, so I wore something in the middle that I could pull a nice big coat over.

As for jewelry, I only had on my teapot necklace, but I got a great closeup picture of it. Unfortunately, without my constant spoon ring, my finger felt naked all day long!

Jeans??!!

So after whining about jeans in the last post, I'm wearing jeans in this one. How will you ever live with my constant wavering?! Actually, it's due to the freaking rain/ice here in the mountains. Tights can cope with the cold, but not with the wet. This is pretty much the one pair of jeans I own that fits at the moment, though, due to a enormous rip in the crotch of my other favorite pair. Several jeans are being cut up to make a jean skirt, so that is hovering in the future. And by make, I mean my mom or sister will make it for me as I lack all sewing skills. My one craftiness ability is my jewelry making.

These shoes aren't my most comfortable, but what with the iciness, I thought they would work well. And they seem very Swiss Miss, Heidi-ish to me. Although, the shoe name is Brigitte, which sounds very snooty French to me. (All apologies if your name is Brigitte.)

Speaking of snooty French girls, I threw in a couple of beret pictures for you. Since I cut my hair so short (it used to be down to midback, then my shoulders, and now my chin), I actually look pretty cute in a beret! But it has to be a big one, since I have a giant head.

Majamas

No pictures, because the camera I'll be using is over at my sister's (http://lalalaclothes.blogspot.com/ check her out!). I want to post every day, so today is going to be a love post on a subject dear to my heart. Pajamas. Or as my niece says, majamas. Anytime that I'm home, and will be home for the day, I'm in pajamas. And as pajamas, I wear cotton pajama pants and altered/deconstructed t-shirts. I have two enormous plastic bins, one for shirts and one for my pants, that currently sit in the corner of my room because I have too many pajamas to fit into my dresser drawers. As I write, I'm wearing black cotton drawstring pants, and a altered MASH t-shirt, along with my new favorite necklace. It's all antique-brass colored, and very simple. It's just a chain with a very cool infuser teapot charm, but I love it.
