FBFF Outfit Planning

1. How do you go about picking your outfit for the day?
I am actually that annoying person who picks out their outfit the night before. There are the occasions that I completely change what I had decided on, but in general, I see what the weather will be like, figure out whether I want to shave, and what sort of mood I'm in. (These are all very important factors!)

2. Do you try stuff on and then take pics to see how it looks, like Cher in Clueless?
Uh, no. I often learn what outfits look great in person but horrible in photos, thanks to this blog!

3. And are you consistent in your planning or lack thereof, or is your planning limited to special events?
Unless there's a big crisis, I am. Then all bets are off, and I'm probably out in my jammies. I'm also obsessive about packing for trips. I make long lists of what all I should take, down to how many pairs of panties and how many bras.

4. Do you have a way of keeping track of which outfits you wore when?
 Other than my blog? Nope.

5. How do you come up with new clothing combinations?
With my brain? Seriously, it's just what I think the night before for everyday, and a planned list for vacations. So I'm only partially annoying, not completely organized down to a T annoying!

FBFF - Falling for Fall

September 2 - Fall trends. Name your five favorite fall trends and how you plan to wear them this season. Sadly, this post has turned into "how Erin spent her hard earned money". So these trends better live up to their hype! Cause I'm wearing them anyway, kiddos.

  • Cardigans
Oh my lord, how DON'T I plan to wear cardigans? I am a layering fool, and cardigans are my crack. I have a black cardigan from Simply Be that I've been wearing all summer in my frigid air conditioned office, so I went on and bought a khaki one for the fall.

  • Cloaks (and other drama filled outer wear)
I already have a few cloaks and pashminas (even a faux fur one!), but I got a full hooded black one from SendTheTrend.com.

  • Girly Girl
Like my girl, Jessie, I do like the occasional bow, so I'm going to wear some frou frou items this winter that will also keep me warm.

  • Androgny
BUT. I also like to be hardcore! (Stop laughing, Jen.) I've been on the lookout for a pair of oxfords that would fit and not make my wide feet look fat. And looking at the Simply Be website, I realized that what I actually wanted were brogues! These are on the way, and I will be devastated if they don't fit. For at least an hour.

  • RED!
You know I love it. And it's totally a fall color. Even Harper's Bazaar says it's a fall "in" color. Plus, I bought this red cardigan that's totally girly. So that hits 3 trends at once!

FBFF - A closer look

August 26 - Visual FBFF sponsored by Ashley Getting Dressed. We're
doing an upclose and personal look at a favorite clothing item.
Instead of just photographing it as part of an OOTD post, show us the
little details, the things you can't see from a far-away shot.

Okay, I'm fudging a bit here. I needed to wear maroon for a "tailgate" lunch thing at work today. (Lord, save me from the "fun" bits of working at a university!)  But, I do love this top. It's so fancy! I did try to take a picture of the center decoration, but all I got was truly scary photos of my chest attacking the camera. CAUTION: GIANT CHEST APPROACHING!! RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!! IT'S COMING STRAIGHT FOR YOU!! So, I decided to just post this pretty pic of the intricate embroidery and faux jewels on the sides of the collar. They really don't get shown off nearly as much as the center piece, anyway. I don't know if it's the color, or the decorations, but this top makes me think Edwardian. Which is silly, an Edwardian lady would NEVER get caught in something like this. [CORRECTION: After looking online, what I really meant was the dresses designed by Charles Frederick Worth, who was more Victorian.]

Also, these shoes are very adorable. Not very comfy, being all plastic, but very adorable with their flowers.

Top - Venezia, Pants - White Stag, Shoes - Avenue, Earrings - homemade.

june 24 FBFF

1.      Since you began blogging do you notice a change in the types of things you gravitate towards while shopping?

I'm more likely to NOT buy something boring, just because it fits. I'm more likely to buy something if it fits well and strikes a chord with me.

2.      Do you find, as a fashion blogger, that you dress differently from your family and friends? Do they comment on that?

My sister is extremely stylish (she got me into fashion blogs, has one but rarely blogs) and is always well put together. She's the one who gets comments from people! Although the women at work do compliment me on my collection of cool flats.

3.      What’s the weirdest fashion that you secretly like, even if you aren’t bold enough to wear it?

I LOVE caftans and dashikis. I am uber white, and I need to figure out at home to how to pull it off with the necessary elan.

4.      Looking at current trends – what would you like to try but need to build up the courage to do?

I want to get a nice (re: well made) "bandage" style dress. Then I'll let my curves loose and watch people drool!

5.      Toot someone’s horn – what fashion blogger out there inspires you with her bold fashion choices?

I love Gracey, and Erin, and Reiko. All three of them rock my world in different ways.
