Walk walk fashion baby

I might be starting to like Lady Gaga.  I'm slow to get on the new music train, OK?  Anyway, I this is basically a redux of last Friday, but with a black scarf and new jewelry.  And the jewelry is my newest and some of my most favorite stuff I've created.
Anywhooo....um.  I got nothing today.  Couple more pics, then I'm done.  All my witty banter was used up at work.
Nicely pensive, right?
Little too damn smiley, isn't it?

Shameless self-promotion

So, I may have mentioned (a bajillion times) on here that I have an Etsy store with my sister and brother-in-law.  It's called Birnam Grove and it's where you can buy MY jewelry, my sister's various sewn objects (purses, dresses, quilts, etc.) and my bro's woodworking (hair sticks, magic wands for your munchkins, and wine bottle stoppers).  It's totally where you want to spend your money!  And here are a few pictures to show you!  (All my stuff, cause I'm selfish like that!)

Sequins, Beads and Ribbons Necklace
Ages of Woman Necklace
Bronze Address Necklace
Red (Flapper) Charm Bracelet
Green Cameo Bracelet
Blue Beaded Ring (size 9)
Silver Earrings
Brass Teardrop Earrings
Sand and Brown Botanical Earrings
Okay, Okay, Okay.  I'm not that bad.  Here's a bit of Jen and David's work.
Cupcake Purse!
Myrtle Hand-turned Wine Stopper
So come, buy lots of goodies at our store.  Compared to the rest of Etsy, we're pretty darn cheap!

Plus-size tights have arrived!!

Poor me...sitting sadly at my computer, looking at blog photos of girls with fantastic tights, clicking on links and seeing those dreaded words UP TO 175 POUNDS (or up to 150).  I weigh QUITE a bit more than that, and I wanted brightly colored tights that ACTUALLY fit me.  AND NOW I HAVE THEM!
Sitting on the dock of the library

I bought today's tights from Sock Dreams plus-sized collection, and two more pairs from We Love Colors plus-sized section in magenta and baby pink.  Aren't these black and red tights just the cutest, witchiest things?

If you notice (or can remember), this is the outfit from my very first entry, but I think the tights make it really pop!  And my new hair is really making me feel more...me, if that makes any sense.  I had been wary of short hair, due to some poor short haircuts in high school, and I had worn my hair looong since then.  But this is fresh!  Yet retro!  And full of exclamation points!  I have to brush them out every night!

Scarf it up!

Why do I look so suspicious?
I went with my new (thrifted only yesterday!) cowl neck t-shirt and my usual jeans, both from Old Navy.

And I added the scarf to jazz it up a bit, a beautiful one that I probably got for Christmas or a birthday.  My mom tends to give me scarves, but I've just started to get comfortable wearing them.
I've gotten a lot of compliments at work and out lately.  The general consensus seems to be that it's very retro, like a flapper bob gone crazy.  I'm loving it so far!

Two-fer and a haircut!

I know, why do I keep cutting my hair?!   Well, first of all my sister got this awesome super-short cut, and I'm jealous.  But my hair (texture and thickness) would look HORRIBLE like that.  Like a brown Q-tip, I believe my beloved sissy told me.  So my bob keeps getting shorter and shorter and my curls/waves keep getting crazier and crazier!!!  My personality is really starting to come out in my hair, I think.  So I got my mama to cut it a bit yesterday morning, maybe three inches.

And then I went crazy this morning myself, and started "trimming" a bit.  So I had to have Mama fix that up, taking maybe a half-inch more off.  It's chin-length now, but very....rambunctious.
Look at my dangly earrings!
We had an staff conference today, so I got to wear my pretty hippie skirt that's too long for work (I roll over the bottom with my chair when I try).  I got it at a hippie store and the clothing label is Jezebel.  How cool is that!  [Tiny mama took the pictures today, resulting in an odd pose as she asked "Did you want a whole body?" then tried to go out into the hallway so she was far enough away.  Usually she just crops off my feet, like yesterday.]

Slippin' slippin' away

So, this dress is new (another JMS find).  And the slip I wore underneath is old.  And the slip rode up, and rode around, and basically just refused to stay still.  I prefer not to have my slip peek out of my dress.  Call me picky.  Obviously, I need to find another slip.
See my cranky face?
For some reason, this dress didn't photograph quite as cute as it is in reality.

Here's a close-up of my necklace, one I call my bird and tree necklace, chosen because the black/white matched the dress.

Dress Your Best Week - Day 5

Day 5 - The Last Day!
Forget a specific part.  I wore this outfit because it makes me feel cute.

I hardly ever wear this cardigan, even though it's Merona (one of my favorite brands, obviously!) because it has an odd front.  It dips down so far in front that it shows whatever I layer it over.  But I tried it on this morning, since the gray complemented my gray leggings and BOOM!  Instant cute.  I won't wear it long, because the day is going to get hot and we'll be checking in tons of books all day as kids pack up and leave school.  But, I think it's much cuter than a plain jacket!  And this dress?  The one from my avatar, another Faded Glory item just like the leggings.  The dress is short enough that I feel much more comfy wearing leggings.  I don't like to flash my panties at people in the library, thank you very much.  And those cute shoes...KNOCK-OFF CROCS.  Comfy feet make me sooooo happy!  How happy?  Happy enough for my teapot necklace and this pose with a great big smile!
I hope everyone has had fun with Dress Your Best Week.  I have, even though I slipped up a day (or two).

Dress Your Best Week- Day 4

Day 4 - My curves!  All of them, including my smile!
I'm curvy.  EVERYWHERE!  And that's a good thing.  Even though I don't want to have children (and plan not to), I like my childbearing hips.  We've been over how much I love my chest in plenty of previous posts.  But when you look at my body, it's pretty damn hard to find a straight line.

My sister says that this picture is the most...realistic?  Anyway, she says this is what I look when I smile in real life.  You might notice that I almost never look like this when I'm "smiling" in a picture.  Even after a few months of deliberate picture taking for this blog, I still get fairly tense when a camera swings my way.
Most of the day, I wore this dress (Chico Traveler's, baby!) with my Lane Bryant tee, but I got hot moving around all the books the recently graduated kids returned, hence it's removal.
Return of the awkward smile!

Dress Your Best Week- Day 3

Day 3 - Uh....
Guess who forgot to highlight a certain body part today?  If you guessed me, you would be so very, very right!  I dreamt about bread all night last night, woke up tired and threw together an outfit based on the weather and not having to shave my legs.  I give you two pictures, one blurry on top and one on bottom (my daddy took special pictures tonight).  Then, I'll b.s. some highlights for you.

Sooooo.....(and I'm just grabbing at straws here)
This t-shirt makes my chest look nice...
And I like my hair, even though it got pretty fluffy during the day.
By the way, was I on crack when I decided on of my five body parts to highlight would be my feet?  I suppose they're nice enough, but they're fairly wide.  Maybe I meant I liked my shoes?  But I don't even like most of my shoes!  But I do like today's.
And my eyes look pretty and friendly (stop laughing hysterically, o sister of mine) in this picture.
Well, that b.s. session covered 4 of the 5 body parts!  My English degree served me well, I can make up stuff with the best of them!  I'm going to try to plan an outfit for tomorrow, though.  This after the fact style creating is hard at the end of the day.

Dress Your Best - Day 2

Day 2: BUST!! And hair and eyes!

(Qualifier: This is my day two, since I didn't work yesterday and wore jammies all day.)  Yay for my chest! 40DD and proud of it!  It can be hard to dress around a large chest and a smallish waist, but when I pull it off, it looks great.

And pulling it off...empire style dresses and shirts!  As long as they're not too drapey around the waist - that leads to an inadvertent pregnancy look.  I should try more belts, I suppose, but...I haven't yet!  No real reason, just lack of belts and drive.  This dress is my backwards dress from Pure Energy, that I discussed in an earlier post.  I'm actually in front of a bush at my church, one that my niece screamed in delight was just like one at her house.  As for hair and eyes, when I wear a dress, I just end up spending more time on my eye makeup and leaving my hair down.
This is, of course, my hair at the end of the day.  It looked better at the beginning of the day before I checked in a bajillion books returned by leaving students.  The kids suddenly realize "Oh, I should return those books I checked out and stuffed under my bed six months ago!  I'll do it now, when everyone else on campus is!"  Sigh.  End of the semester is always rough.

And, for your great pleasure....stare deep into my soul!!!!!!!

Huh, I look sort of blank, don't I?  Maybe I should get some sleep...

Dress Your Best - Day 1

Day 1: Eyes! And Hair! And lots of pictures!!

To accentuate my eyes, I almost always go for the deep dark smoky look.  I lined the bottom with Rimmel eyeliner, used Maybelline mascara, and cheap eyeshadow from the dollar store (I don't remember the brand).

My eyes generally appear blue to blue-gray, and my lashes are a decent length, but on the lighter side, so dark mascara really makes them pop.

Wearing my hair down is also a concession to my mother, who loves it down and fluffy.  It's so thick (even after my sister thinned it out with layers) that it can get really BIG if I don't watch out, and it's also prone to frizz, so I have to use some product.

As you guys know, I am lazy to the nth degree when it comes to my hair.  Five minutes would mean a super-fancy hairstyle for me!
See my silver hairs! So cute!
I wore my blousy black George top, and some jeans, going plain with the outfit for today's theme of eyes and hair.
